The Terrace, Barnes by Andrew Childs
One of several outstanding pieces at the Easter Art Fair in Barnes - story 62
This is rather fabulous.
Actually not this version. The one hanging in OSO, the theatre on Barnes Pond. It is another excellent piece by Andrew Childs. £450 would secure this hand-coloured etching.
Reviewing the first three months of this blog, I came to the important realisation: in my eagerness to champion change, I had overlooked something essential — the need to celebrate what’s already good. In trying to imagine a better version of Barnes and Mortlake, I forgot to fully acknowledge the vibrant, cherished life that already exists here.
Wherever I’ve lived — from hilly Lancashire to the fens of Cambridgeshire, through the market towns of Staffordshire and now here in London — I’ve always been drawn to how others experience that place. There’s something deeply grounding about seeing somewhere through another person’s eyes. You notice things you might otherwise rush past.
This Art Fair had several works which provoked that response. I will share more in the coming days.

Yes. You had been looking at his business card. His website includes many examples of his work.
